Lighting the future: Worldvisuals South Africa sparks innovation in Clarens
Worldvisuals South Africa is a newly established non-profit company dedicated to advancing art, sustainability, knowledge, and collaboration across business and technology. Closely connected with Worldvisuals Film in the Netherlands, it acts as a sister NPC, fostering knowledge exchange and mutual learning between countries to strengthen both organizations and amplify their impact.
With upcoming initiatives such as the Clarens Festival of Lights, we aim to shine a positive spotlight on the town of Clarens, showcasing how a rural community can take the lead in addressing national challenges.
We’re also proud to be launching the Light Legacy Projects, a visionary effort led by Rogier Bleys to transform Clarens into South Africa’s first “Light Legacy Town.” These projects aim to:
– Equip youth with employable skills through training in solar energy, event management, AI and digital media.
– Enrich education via to be realized “Light Lab”, a hands-on science and culture center that integrates local heritage and STEM learning.
– Promote sustainability by powering the festival with renewable energy and using circular materials.
– Empower local women entrepreneurs through coaching, exhibitions, and digital platforms.
– Strengthen community governance, heritage preservation and community health through inclusive councils and volunteer programs.
– Build a global support network via storytelling, (micro)donations, and funding to sustain long-term impact.
Together, these efforts form a replicable model for rural innovation, inclusivity, and sustainable development.
